"Nikkyo Niwano (1906-1999) is one of the most representative figures in contemporary Japanese Buddhism. He was founder of the Japanese Buddhist lay association the Rissho Kosei-kai and one of the principal promoters of the World Conference of Religions for Peace (an interreligious platform with which the Catholic Church has been collaborating since its inception in 1970), and can be considered one of the late 20th century's most significant and most active Buddhist partners in the dialogue with Christianity [...].

Through his presentation of the experience and thought of Niwano, Cinto Busquet draws us into the complex and finely articulated Buddhist vision of Reality, suggesting interesting avenues of reflection to the Western reader formed in a Christian culture. He places himself before Nikkyo Niwano in a position of humble listening and invites us to do the same. In doing so, he does not set aside his clear Christian and Catholic identity. Indeed, it is precisely his impassioned love for Christ, intimately experienced as "the Way, the Truth and the Life" (Jn 14:6), that drives Busquet to take this interest in other religions, recognizing the action of Christ's Spirit already somehow operating in these”.
